Hey, welcome to my site for the love of all things PaperPie!
I am an StoryMaker with PaperPie (formerly Usborne Books & More). I joined at the very first party I ever attended.
I had a HUGE wishlist, and truly wanted just about every book in the catalog and joined just for the discount! I love these books even more than I thought I would.
I started this blog because the books are gorgeous, and fantastic, but without being able to see and touch the books, it’s hard to appreciate them.
This blog is to share a peek inside view of PaperPie titles.
Why “Surprise” Us Books?
You might be wondering, why the name Surprise is in my domain? I love getting surprises in the mail, there’s nothing quite as fun as being surprised with a letter, a box, an invite, or anything that comes in the mail.
Opening up a box of PaperPie Books is always the absolutely BEST surprise a child can receive! It’s a box full of storytime cuddles, discovering new imaginative worlds, learning something new and having fun in creative ways!
No matter what books you pick for your little ones, they are going to love the surprise!
About Me & My Crew
If we haven’t met yet, let me introduce me and my family.
My name is Janel and I have been married to my sweetheart for 17 years. We met on a cruise! (True story!)
We have 5 beautiful boys ages 16 to 8 including our sweet little Eric who is watching over us from heaven.
We live in Raleigh, North Carolina.
We love to play games, hike, ride roller coasters, watch movies, and travel the world. We’ve taken two long summer road trips across the 11 western US states including stops at Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, and Four Corners. This past summer we took an international trip with the kids in tow to Spain, France, and Italy.
My kids love to read!
All of my boys love to read (including my youngest who’s just a year). I contribute their love of reading to a few things, that make all the difference in raising readers:
1. They see me read. I don’t hide out or only read late at night, I love getting lost in a good book, when I can make time for one, and while I don’t read daily my boys still know I love to read.
Whether that’s a young adult novel (my favorites!) or just a bedtime story to my crew.
2. Keeping lots of books around the home. I have an overflowing bookshelf, and books take up a good portion of our space. With all these books around, they are regularly looked through and my kids know that books and reading are both important.
3. Awesome books that make reading fun! I love when my kids pick up a book for a school assignment on reading and hours later I find them still reading that same book.
Most of the time, my boys won’t put down a book until they have to or until they’ve read it all the way through.
When you have books that are engaging your children in reading, they will WANT to read!
With this love of books, I was thrilled to become a PaperPie StoryMaker and even more ecstatic to be able to share a love of books and reading with all those who I get the opportunity to connect with through this business.
